- The front bears the Hylian Royal Family Crest as well as the Triforce symbol.
Link used a Hylian Shield as a child in order to approach Death Mountain, but could only wear it on his back and crouch with it due to its size and weight using it like a turtle shell, using his Deku Shield when fighting instead. After he grew up, he could use it along with the Master Sword. Hylian Shields were sold at the Bazaar in Hyrule Castle Town or Kakariko Village, though one was buried in the Royal Family tomb in Kakariko Graveyard.
Hylian Shields were still in use by the time of the Twili Invasion, upon which a new Link purchased one from Malo Mart in Kakariko Village, in order to replace his Ordon or Wooden Shield. It was modeled after the original Link's shield, and had a slightly different design, also unlike previous metallic shields this one has the ability to reflect not only physical attacks but magical ones as well.
