In 1990, he was inducted into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame and, in 2003, he was inducted as an original member of the International Knife Throwers' Hall of Fame. He holds a black belt in Judo as well as a sixth degree Black Belt in Kenpo karate, which he has taught.
